Communities of Practice

BCcampus works collaboratively across the post-secondary sector to strengthen learning and teaching across British Columbia. Communities of practice allow us to share expertise, amplify innovation, and support initiatives that advance equitable, accessible, and high-quality education. 

BC Open Education Community

The British Columbia Open Education Community (BCOEC) welcomes members from the post-secondary sector in British Columbia and the Yukon. This community convenes monthly in virtual gatherings, fostering an environment for sharing insights, providing support, and engaging in discussions about the challenges, best practices, and current issues within open education. 

BC Open Education Librarians

The BC Open Education Librarians is a group of post-secondary librarians and educators who meet and share ideas, tools, and strategies on open educational resource projects in support of faculty. The group meets monthly with the coordination and assistance of BCcampus.

BC Open Education Community

The British Columbia Open Education Community (BCOEC) welcomes members from the post-secondary sector in British Columbia and the Yukon. BC Teaching & Learning Council (BCTLC)

The BCTLC is made up of leaders in teaching, learning, and technology from all publicly funded post-secondary institutions in B.C.

The BCTLC provides leadership and shares information on teaching, learning technologies, scholarly practice, and student learning. Working with BCcampus, the BCTLC supports program development for professional learning events for educators and administers the West Coast Teaching Excellence Awards. 

Educational Technology Users Group (ETUG)

The ETUG is an eclectic and friendly group of educational technology and learning design professionals who work with BCcampus to deliver workshops and conferences to advance teaching and learning through technology in B.C. higher education.

Open Educational Technology Collaborative (OpenETC)

The ETUG is an eclectic and friendly group of educational technology and learning design professionals who work with BCcampus to deliver workshops and conferences to advance teaching and learning through technology in B.C. higher education.

Territorial Acknowledgement

The BCcampus office is situated on the unceded territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) and the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) Peoples. The W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples include the BO,ḰE,ĆEN (Pauquachin), W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), W̱,SIKEM (Tseycum), S,ȾAUTW̱ (Tsawout), and MÁLEXEŁ (Malahat) Nations. The lək̓ʷəŋən Peoples include the xʷsepsəm (Esquimalt) and Songhees Nations. BCcampus’ work spans the entire province, allowing us the privilege of connecting with people and places across many Territory and Treaty areas.

As an organization, we continue to learn and build relationships as we actively respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
